Teaching at American School Foundation of Guadalajara Middle School 2012 to 2014
As the Middle School Technology Teacher at ASFG, I had the opportunity to work with all teachers to integrate technology into their curriculum. At the beginning of the 2012 school year we adopted Google Apps for Education, to provide more opportunity for collaboration and integration. Students were given their Google username and password and introduced to concepts related to digital citizenship and digital literacy. During the first few months students shared folders, learned how to copy documents, and collaborated using Google Apps. By the end of the year, they were easily creating sites, surveys and using more advanced features.
Although I had a variable schedule, meeting with teachers and students in various classrooms, I made it my goal each year to learn the names of the 5th grade students. I became very familiar with the students in the 2020 and 2021 generations. During my time, several students regularly came to the computer lab before school or during lunch to finish work and learn coding. Before this job, I had no idea how much fun middle school students could be.

Professional Development at ASFG MS 2012 to 2014
Soon after I arrived at ASFG, I joined several of my colleagues at the Google Apps for Education Summit in Mexico City. It was a great experience and informed the way I helped middle school students and teachers begin using Google Apps. In general, I have worked one on one with teachers to help them understand how and why these tools can help them achieve their curricular objectives.
Since I have been at ASFG, I have offered two Wednesday Professional Development sessions to faculty from throughout ASFG. I firmly believe that teachers and students must be held accountable for their use of other peoples' creative work so first I presented on Copyright and Creative Commons. The second session I offered was Using Technology to Improve Writing with Rachel Glickman.
